The Cinderella Castle Suite: A Royal Experience
This suite, fittingly located within the iconic Cinderella Castle, offers an opportunity to sleep like royalty. It can accommodate up to six guests and was originally created for the Year of a Million Dreams promotion, which ran from 2006 to 2008. During this time, 307 lucky winners got to spend a night in this magical place. Since then, the suite has been used sparingly, and it's not something you can simply book through Disney.
The only way to stay here is to win a contest or receive an exclusive invitation. Many of these contests are charity-based, with donations going towards organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Give Kids the World. It's a win-win situation, as these charities benefit, and a few lucky individuals get to live out their Disney dreams.
In the early years, a select few celebrities also got to experience the suite. These included Kevin Jonas and Danielle, who celebrated their first anniversary there in 2010, Tom Cruise and Suri in 2012, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon in 2013, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka in 2013, and Katy Perry in 2014. Despite rumors of Disney being offered $40,000 for a night's stay, the suite remains off-limits to those with deep pockets.
A Suite with a History
Before the Cinderella Castle Suite became the ultimate Disney hotel stay, it wasn't even intended to be a guest room. When the castle was being planned, the suite was designed for the Disney family and executives to use. However, tragedy struck, and both Roy O. Disney and Walt Disney passed away before the suite could be utilized. Roy passed in 1971, shortly after Disney World opened, and Walt died in 1966, before construction on the castle even began. As a result, the plan was abandoned, and the space was converted into office and administrative areas.
Step Inside the Suite
As you enter the suite, you're greeted by a stunning mosaic on the floor depicting Cinderella's carriage, made up of over 30,000 tiles. The interior design is a meticulous recreation of 17th-century French style, a nod to Cinderella's homeland. Rich, dark wood details are prevalent throughout, from the coffered ceiling to the bed frames and furniture. The two queen-sized beds feature Cinderella's royal crest, and the stained glass windows beside the beds add a touch of magic with their crown motifs.
The sitting area boasts a custom-made sofa that converts into a bed, and the ceiling mural above it is a vibrant display of blue patterns interspersed with images of bluebirds in flight. One of the most captivating features is the 17th-century Gothic-style limestone fireplace, modeled after an original wooden fireplace in France. It's equipped with fiber optics to create a simulated fire, adding to the ambiance.
Above the fireplace hangs an ornately framed portrait of Cinderella, but this is no ordinary painting. It's actually a television, a clever disguise that adds to the suite's charm. The soaking tub is surrounded by vibrant mosaics, with woodland creatures and colorful flowers adorning the right and left sides, and a path leading up to Cinderella's Castle on the hill in the center. The ceiling above the tub is a starry wonder, creating the illusion of bathing under a night sky.
Guests staying in the suite also have access to a 24-hour concierge service, ensuring their every need is met. And with the suite clock never striking midnight, there's no need to worry about your carriage turning back into a pumpkin!
The World of Dreams VIP Tour
While you can't buy your way into the Cinderella Castle Suite, there was a brief period when a VIP tour, called World of Dreams, offered a glimpse into this magical world. In 2019, Disney World launched this exclusive tour for up to six guests at a cost of $12,000. The tour included a visit to the suite, as well as a host of other perks:
- Backstage access and transportation
- Front-of-the-line attraction access
- Exclusive nighttime spectacular viewing areas
- Three meals with select alcohol included
- Access to any restaurant at Walt Disney World without reservations
- And many more customizable experiences based on guest requests
