Nolan Arenado's Journey: From Colorado Rockies to NL West Dominance (2026)

Get ready for a wild ride as we dive into the incredible journey of Nolan Arenado, a baseball legend who's back in the NL West, and the controversies and triumphs that have marked his career.

Nolan's story begins with his draft by the Colorado Rockies in 2009, a moment that set him on a path to become one of the game's greats. Over eight years with the Rockies, he experienced the highs of eight Gold Gloves, four Platinum Gloves, and four Silver Sluggers, and the lows of an ugly public feud with the front office. This led to his trade to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021, just two years after signing an $260 million contract extension.

In St. Louis, Nolan continued to shine, adding two more Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger to his collection, and making three All-Star appearances. But after a challenging 2025 season, he found himself on the move again, this time to the Arizona Diamondbacks, marking his return to the NL West.

"I'm thrilled to be back," Nolan shared. "I know the division well, but there are new faces and challenges. I grew up in this league, so adjusting shouldn't be too tough."

True to his nature, Nolan has big plans for his new team and the upcoming season. "This team is top-notch," he said. "The offense is already in the Top 10, but I believe I can take it even higher. I'm making some adjustments to play to my full potential. I keep my goals private, but they're ambitious, and I don't plan on changing that."

Despite the excitement of his new chapter, Nolan has fond memories of his time in Colorado. "The players I started with - Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki, Dustin Morneau - were incredible," he recalled. "And then there were Carlos González, Trevor Story, Charlie Blackmon, and DJ LeMahieu. Looking back, that team was special. Everywhere I go, people tell me how tough it was to face us. It was one of the best offenses I've ever been a part of."

Even after nearly a decade, Nolan stays connected with many of his former teammates, including Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela. "'Free' and 'Senza' are like family," he said. "They were young when we played together, but they pitched their hearts out. I wish them nothing but success. I talk to Charlie and DJ all the time, and even Story. We still give each other a hard time."

Nolan's connections run deep, even with the new Rockies manager, Warren Schaeffer. "We played together in Double-A," Nolan explained. "I was a pain back then, but we got along great. He loved my work ethic, and he was a hard worker too. He showed up every day, even when he wasn't starting."

Schaeffer echoed these sentiments, remembering Nolan's time with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers fondly. "He was the young talent, and I was the old guy on the bench," Schaeffer said. "He played my position, and he was the best practicer I've ever seen. He showed up every day, and that's why he's so great. He's a future Hall of Famer, and my favorite player I've ever seen."

As Nolan enters the potential final stages of his career, the Hall of Fame conversation is never far. But he's not dwelling on it just yet. "It's great to be in the conversation, but I don't think about it," he said. "I'm focused on this season with the Diamondbacks. I have high expectations for this team and myself, and we'll see where that takes us."

And of course, no Nolan Arenado profile would be complete without a nod to his defensive prowess. When asked about his favorite plays, he shared a few gems that showcase his talent and work ethic.

So, what do you think? Is Nolan a surefire Hall of Famer? Or is there more to his story that we haven't seen yet? Let's discuss in the comments!
