Fortunately, I’ve learned a few productivity strategies that will help you get more done while traveling around for the past 5+ years.
Let’s look at some of my top productivity ideas while traveling and growing successful companies.
1. Take a pen and paper with you and make notes as the mood strikes you.
I’ve often found that the best ideas come to me when I’m away from my desk and computer. So, whenever I’m traveling, I make sure to bring a small notebook and pen with me so I can jot down thoughts as they come to me. This way, when I get back to my office, I already have a list of ideas to work on.
2. Set up a mobile office
If you’re going to be traveling for more than a few days, it’s worth setting up a mini-office wherever you’re staying. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy โ just a small desk or table where you can set up your laptop and have a place to work. This will then allow you to get more done while you’re on the road.
3. Get up early and get started on your work
One of the best ways to be productive while traveling is to get an early start on your day. I find that if I can get a few hours of work done before breakfast, I’m usually in good shape for the rest of the day. So, if you’re having trouble getting started on your work while traveling, try setting your alarm for an hour or two earlier than usual and see how it goes.
4. Take advantage of downtime
There will inevitably be times when you’re traveling when you’re not able to work โ whether it’s because you’re in transit or you’re taking a break to sightsee. When this happens, I like to use my downtime to brainstorm new ideas or work on small tasks that I can knock out quickly. That way, when I do have time to sit down and work, I can hit the ground running.
5. Stay organized
This one is important no matter where you are, but it’s especially crucial when you’re traveling. Make sure to keep your work area tidy and your belongings organized so you can find what you need quickly and easily. This will save you time and frustration in the long run.
6. Set aside time for breaks
It’s important to take breaks while you’re working, even when you’re traveling. Get up and stretch your legs, grab a coffee or snack, or take a walk outside to clear your head. Taking breaks will help you stay focused and avoid burnout. This helps in the long run as you will be more productive when you come back to work.
7. Make time for exercise
Exercise is important for both your physical and mental health, so it’s important to make time for it even when you’re on the road. If you can’t get to a gym, try fitting in a quick workout in your hotel room or going for a run outside. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel โ and how much more productive you’ll be โ after getting some exercise.
8. Connect with other entrepreneurs
If you’re traveling for business, try to connect with other entrepreneurs who are in town. This can be a great way to network and exchange ideas. You never know โ you might even make some valuable connections that will help you in your business.
9. Keep your energy up
It’s important to keep your energy levels up when you’re traveling, so you can stay productive and focused. Make sure to eat healthy meals, drink plenty of water, and get enough sleep. And if you need an extra boost, try taking some caffeine or energy supplements.
10. Enjoy your time
Even though it’s important to be productive while you’re traveling, don’t forget to enjoy your time as well. Explore the city you’re in, try new things, and make memories that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. After all, that’s what travel is all about.
I hope these tips help you be more productive while you’re on the road. Safe travels!
